The Spanish Government shall assign 6,3% less to the payment of unemployment benefit in 2013 compared with 2012 figures, according to the draft bill for the Spanish National Budget for 2013 (Presupuestos Generales del Estado – PGE).<\/span>

As a consequence of said reduction, the new unemployed shall see their unemployment benefit payment reduced after six months from 60% to 50% of the reference value.<\/span>

Additionally, the Government has decided that in December of this year the recuperation of unemployment benefit as a result of a Labour Adjustment Plan (ERE) arising from the suspension and reduction of working hours for economic, technical, organisational or production reasons shall end. Consequently, the workers involved in an adjustment plan for suspension and reduction of working hours shall no longer be able to recuperate the part of their benefits already used up during the Labour Adjustment Plan (up to a maximum of 180 days).<\/span>
